Italy in America, via WWW
What started as a group project at the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute of the Queens College of New York has developed into something far more ubiquitous and impactful: the web community of i-Italy.com.
Its bilingual bloggers, multimedia content and social networking site captured the attention of the Italian consulate’s office in New York.
Its founders, Anthony Tamburri, dean of the Calandra Institute, and Letizia Airos, are attempting to streamline the vast amounts of content about the Italian community in the U.S. The Consul General seems to agree, and has even promoted the Consulate’s efforts through digital video broadcast.
