Artisans into the Future

For this third issue, we will be particularly interested in receiving contributions focusing on the surviving old Italian craftsmanship and the role of handiwork and production in future economies.
Suggested topics include:
- The survival of old craftsmanship today: the thin line between art and crafts.
- Profiles of fabric makers, leather workers, knife sharpeners, umbrella repairers, cobblers, shoe-shiners, clockmakers: voices of the past still resounding today.
- The artisans of Italian cinema: the great tradition of set designing artisans (such as De Angelis at Cinecittà), special make-up effects artists (such as Carlo Rambaldi) and costume designers (such as Tirelli).
- The Artisans of Fashion, backbone of the industry – leather, shoes, bags, fabric, etc.
- The texture of Italian industry: the challenges of small companies and family-run businesses in the global market.
- “Made in Italy” today, between new technologies and traditional skills.
